Individual Services Division

Individual Sport Psychology

  • improve your performance, no matter the sport
  • increase your concentration and focus during competition or games
  • more effective practice time equates to less wasted time and energy
  • better competition pre-planning
  • decrease your time away from sport and increase your ability to rehabilitate more from injury
  • improve your attitude toward all aspects of sport participation and competition
  • dramatically increased personal satisfaction and enjoyment concerning competition

Individual Sport Psychology Services are contracted on a "package" basis, based on your individual needs. Typical packages include four-session packages (to use when and where you wish) and more comprehensive packages that include in-office sessions and on-the-field training and discussions. Due to the time demands of working with individuals, this work is done on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Deciding to speak with Dr. Smith was one of the best decisions that I have ever made as an athlete. Using the techniques he taught me, I won the Regional, beating two higher ranked opponents and qualified for the Olympic Trials...I plan on spending the next four years of my life training for World and another Olympic team, and you can bet I'm going to make Dr. Smith a part of that training.

Silver Select Mentor Program (for Sport Psychologists)

Learn what works and what doesn't work with regards to:

  • marketing yourself and your expertise
  • gaining visibility
  • attracting new clients
  • delivering a wide array of successful interventions
  • developing trusting relationships with coaches and athletes
  • getting the fees you deserve
  • learning the basics of public speaking, a key component of sport psychology services
  • delivering value to your clients at every turn
  • managing the "fly by the seat of your pants" ethical aspects of sport psychology work
  • self-promotion
  • keeping your head small enough to fit through the doorways of prospects
    and more...
The Sport Psychology Mentor Program is designed for up and coming or veteran consultants alike. Signing up for the program gets you six months of unlimited access to me by phone, email, fax, or in-person meetings (provided we have mutual availability). Typically, it begins with a goal setting discussion for our work together and a basic action plan towards attainment of these goals. You may contact me as often or as infrequently as you like, but all calls and emails are returned within 24 hours at the latest.

The only two requirements I have for those enlisting in the Sport Psychology Mentor Program are that you take the responsibility for your own action towards your goals and that you allow yourself to hear constructive feedback. I will serve as a sounding board, a coach, a cheerleader, a teacher, an exemplar, and finally an objective evaluator of your progress.

Most sport psychology consultants and sport psychologists are absolutely lacking in the basic skills required to either deliver these consulting competencies or to make this profession a self-sustaining one. In my own personal estimation, 95% of sport psychology consultants or sport psychologists are amateurs, and have no real idea of what works and what athletes and coaches want. This program is specifically designed to vault you into the 5% of those that both know their stuff and make a good living while doing it, and your satisfaction is guaranteed.

PBC Blueprint Program (for Counselors and Psychologists)

Learn the techniques that will allow you to:

  • choose whether you want to work full or part-time
  • market yourself and your specific expertise and interests
  • break free from the world of insurance contracts
  • work as often or as infrequently as you like, depending on your goals and motivation
  • get paid according to your worth rather than at the lowest fee possible
  • build your practice at whatever speed you desire, part time or full time
  • attract clientele that mirrors your clinical interests
  • develop a strong referral network locally
  • become your own boss, set your own hours, and increase your professional satisfaction

The PBC Blueprint Program is designed for those clinicians or counselors who want to:

  • avoid the common missteps and headaches common to new practices
  • establish a fee-for-service practice
  • break free from the bonds of having to work long hours for decreasing pay
  • answer only to themselves
  • improve their life balance and enjoy more time for themselves
  • increase their ability to deliver services in a more ethical and effective manner
  • break away from the bonds of service contracts, client quotas, and incompetent bosses
  • take control of their clinical work once and for all
  • be paid what they are worth

The PBC Blueprint Program is designed specifically for beginning therapists, counselors, social workers, or psychologists, but it is also applicable for those clinicians who are frustrated with the current growth of their practice. Enrollment in the program provides you with six months of unlimited access to me by phone, email, or in-person. Typically it begins with us setting goals and accountabilities for our time together. These goals will cover the basics of setting up a fee-for-service practice, and will incorporate your specific situational needs and preferences.

The only two requirements I have for enrollees in the PBC Blueprint Program are that you take responsibility for your own work towards your goals and that you are able to both receive and incorporate objective feedback. I will serve multiple roles in our work together, including teacher, exemplar, cheerleader, and advisor. I return all phone calls and emails from Blueprint Program members within hours, providing for quick access to solutions and advice. How you use this availability is entirely up to you. Some members call or email daily, while some do so weekly.

The fee for the six-month PBC Blueprint Program is $995. This fee separates those that are serious about building their practices from those that are "testing the waters," only to return to their day jobs. The fee is easily recouped via increased fees and clientele over the course of the program and beyond. There are two payment options: full fee due at commencement or half down and the remainder within 45 days. During this program you can at any time request a "freeze" for whatever reason. There are no refunds, as much of the progress is in your own hands.

Enrollment is limited to availability, and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. If there is a waiting list, you will be notified of this and where you fall on that list.

The PBC Blueprint Program: For clinicians who want pragmatic advice and assistance in building a flourishing fee-for-service practice.

"Priceless" is the only word I can use to describe the value of working with Leif on starting up a counseling practice on my own. He is always readily available, very thorough, and the added bonus is that he does a great job in calming my 'beginner' nerves.
